Hello, and welcome to my blog! My name is Sara and I’m thrilled to have you here.
I’ve not always been a book lover. In fact, up until a few years ago, I was lucky to read 1 or 2 books a year. For a long time, I struggled to get into reading. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy stories – I loved movies and TV shows, and I was always drawn to stories with complex characters and intricate plotlines. But when it came to reading, I just couldn’t get into it.
Part of the problem was that I didn’t know what kind of books I liked. I would try to read whatever was popular at the time, but I would quickly lose interest and give up. It wasn’t until I discovered the type and style of writing that I enjoyed that things started to change. I notice this is the same for my children as well.
For me, it was all about finding books with strong, relatable characters, their relationships with each other, fascinating story worlds and intriguing plots. Once I found books that checked those boxes, I was hooked. I started to see reading as a way to escape into different worlds and connect with characters, especially during lockdown when our own world had been tipped upside down.
Since then, I’ve become a voracious reader, always on the lookout for new books and authors that fit my preferred style of writing. I’ve discovered Bookstagram – an amazing community on Instagram where fellow book lovers share their recommendations. I’m constantly amazed by the depth and variety of stories that are out there waiting to be discovered.
If you’re someone who struggles to get into reading, my advice would be to keep trying. It’s all about finding the type of writing that speaks to you – whether that’s fast-paced thrillers, introspective memoirs, or lighthearted romance novels. Once you find books that capture your attention and keep you engaged, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can become a book lover.
So that’s my story – from non-reader to book lover. I hope it inspires some of you to keep exploring different genres and styles of writing until you find the books that ignite your passion for reading. Happy reading, everyone!
